Old colonial Salacot hat of the Philippines from the Spanish colonial era. Because of the way it is built, it comes from Luzon, capital Manila. Dimensions: 34.5 cm in diameter x 11.5 cm in height. Conservation: The metal part at the top and the ropes to hold it on the head are missing. There are slight damages to the outer rattan material, there is a metal flower that has lost one of the fasteners. This salacot hat was worn by the ruling classes of the island, mayors, judges, tribal chiefs and was used for ceremonial events. Colonial era salacot type hats are always rare and this one has been found in Barcelona, Spain. Possibly brought to the period. Original Salacot.
